A fast shutter speed can often guarantee a detailed image of these precision racing machines. However at 4000th of a second, the car will appear ‘parked’ on the track with no impression of the 200MPH plus speed that these cars are capable of.

With a lower shutter speed of 100 to 200th of a second and panning the camera to match the cars speed, the body and the driver will appear in crisp detail, yet the action of the road, tires and objects at different speeds (and other cars) tells the true story of motion.
